Thomas P. Currey, Associate Attorney and Counsellor at Law

Thomas P. Currey

Thomas P. Currey

Thomas P. Currey was born in the West Texas town of El Paso. When he was seven, his parents traded in their cowboy boots for hiking shoes and relocated the family to Fort Collins, Colorado.

Thomas is a proud graduate of Rocky Mountain High School. Thomas earned his undergraduate degree from Hillsdale College in Michigan, where he graduated summa cum laude with a double major in German and economics. He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Colorado.

After law school Thomas served in Jefferson County District Court as a judicial fellow for the Hon. Laura Tighe and then as a law clerk for the Hon. Margie Enquist. Judges Tighe and Enquist handled a mixed caseload of criminal, domestic (family law), and civil matters.

As a result, Thomas gained an understanding of and an appreciation for the wide variety of ways attorneys can help their clients pursue justice. This broad exposure led Thomas into estate planning, where he enjoys helping clients prevent some of the legal problems that he saw arise in district court due to lack of proper planning.

Thomas met his wife Maria while they were serving as volunteer ushers at a play in Boulder. Thomas and Maria moved to Berthoud in 2019, where Thomas operated his own estate planning practice for two years. Thomas joined our team in 2021 as an associate and now lives in Longmont.

Thomas is an active trumpet player in his spare time. Locally he has performed with ensembles such as the Loveland Concert Band, the Fort Collins Wind Symphony, and Candlelight Dinner Theater. He is also active in his church, where he currently serves on the board of elders. Occasionally his interests in faith and music overlap when he and his wife (who is a professional pianist) perform church preludes and postludes together.
